12th Street project completed

–The City of Paso Robles is putting the final touches on the 12th Street improvement project, according to Paso Robles Capital Projects Engineer Ditas Esperanza. This week, the city is installing the last bit of plants and trees and next week the construction team is performing a final walk of the project to insure that all work has been completed to the city’s satisfaction.

The completed street is 36-feet curb to curb which is the same dimension for Olive Street as it connects to 12th Street. The 36 feet width accounts for two 11 foot wide travel lanes and 7 foot wide parking on both sides. The Paso Robles City Council approved the 12th Street repairs in February of 2015 after workshops with local residents. The improvements were paid for in part by Proposition 84 funds of $1,150,000 and the rest covered by the Supplement Sales Tax fund at $1.2 million.

Last week, the city asked Paso Robles Waste to bring two of their widest trash pick-up truck and asked them to travel 12th Street. Above is a photo of these two trucks traveling down the new part of 12th Street with cars parked on both sides. While these photos were being taken, a transit bus happened to come along as well and travelled the road side by side with one of the PR Waste Trucks, says Esperanza.

The main elements of the project included:
