Boys & Girls Club celebrating successful summer in Atascadero

Atascadero-Summer-Camp– The Boys & Girls Club of North SLO County will celebrate its second successful summer in Atascadero with its partners, Community Church of Atascadero and the Atascadero Kiwanis at a barbecue at the Community Church, 5850 Rosario Avenue, this Sunday at 11:30 a.m.

The Boys & Girls Club hosted over 100 kids for summer day camp, featuring its “Summer Brain Gain” program of fun and engaging educational activities to combat summer learning loss.

Community Church of Atascadero donated the use of its full campus for the camp and the Kiwanis will be presenting a check to defray some of the camp expenses. Additionally, the Kiwanis have pledged the proceeds from their annual Winemaker Dinner as seed capital to start an after-school program in Atascadero.

The Boys & Girls Club after-school program costs only $20 per child for the entire school year, and the organization is working to raise the additional funds needed.

They expect to have an after-school program for the 2016-2017 school year. For additional information, call (805) 239-3659, ext. 203.
