5K & 10K races on Saturday for Cuesta’s children’s centers

Cuesta College is getting ready to lace up for its second annual Children’s Center 5K & 10K Fun Run, a fundraiser benefitting both the San Luis Obispo and North County campus children’s centers. The event will be held this Saturday at the Kennedy Club Adventure, located at 500 S. River Road in Paso Robles.

Along with the two races, the fundraiser will feature a Kids Zone where children can enjoy art projects, face painting, bike riding and free Jamba Juice. Awards will be given to the first three men’s and women’s finishers in both races, as well as free goodie bags to all participants.

The college’s children’s centers are an integral part of Cuesta’s Early Childhood Education degree program; they serve as hands-on educational labs for the students enrolled in the degree program and provide an early learning program for the approximately 75 young children who attend. The money raised will go toward upgrading outdoor play spaces, new equipment, toys, art materials and professional development activities for the staff.

The event kicks off with check-in at 7:00 a.m., the Kids Zone at 8:00 a.m., the 10K at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K at 8:45 a.m. Tickets are $5 for the Kids Zone, $35 for the 10K and $30 for the 5K. Register online at www.active.com. Registration is available the morning of the race.
