AAUW hosting annual home tour
The Paso Robles American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its annual Home Tour on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from noon to 4 p.m. Ticket donations are $25 to view three homes that reflect the early families and the growing wine industry in the Paso Robles area.
The homes in the tour feature various designs with fine art and beautiful landscapes. Proceeds from the tour go toward scholarships for local graduating seniors and returning women students. Tickets are available at Blenders at 538 12th Street, Paso Robles, or by contacting Bev Howe at (805) 239-1817.
The three homes may be viewed in any order. The Halter Ranch Victorian Farmhouse was built in 1885 on a 3,600 acre ranch, part of which is now the Halter Ranch Winery. It has been renovated to include modern conveniences with the interior finishes reproduced to match the original look ofthe home.
The home of John and Elizabeth Rolph was built in the late 1990’s with a farmhouse design that was energy efficient and fit into the landscape. They have since added gardens and orchards as well as photo-voltaic solar panels. The home is accented with beautiful rugs and art work and includes a separate guest house that extends the architectural theme of the main house.
Dana and Marsha Merrill of Pomar Junction Winery purchased their home in 2012 and did extensive remodeling with creative tile work, and hand crafted cabinets. Artistic murals by Steven Kalar were preserved while the bedroom were each decorated with an eclectic theme. The Victorian style ranch house has a wrap-around porch that overlooks the infinity lagoon pool, outdoor BBQ, tennis courts and spa with waterfalls.
