Tasting series highlights classic and reserve wines from estate vineyards

Adelaida Cellars is offering a new series of wine tastings at their winery and vineyard. Guests will have the option of taking a seated tasting, or going on an exploration of the vineyards. “With our rich history, deep cellar, and beautiful property, we wanted to offer guests unique and intimate experiences – an opportunity to go beyond the typical tasting room experience,” said general manager Jessica Kollhoff.

The private tastings are offered with either “classic” or “reserve” wine flights and are led by one of Adelaida’s wine educators. The classic flight is $15 or $12 for wine club members, and features wines from the current tasting room list. The reserve flight, which is $30 or $24 for wine club members, focuses on reserve and library wines, along with a selection of local provisions. Both tastings are offered in the winery or the terraced hilltop that showcases a view of the Santa Lucia mountains.

Visitors are also invited to embark on the scenic, tour, taste and tailgate, or TT&T, which tours Adelaida’s westside vineyards. This tour allows visitors to explore the winery’s 150-acre estate, featuring views of the estate vineyards: Viking, Anna’s, Michael’s, and the 50-year-old HMR Vineyard, the oldest producing pinot noir vineyard on the Central Coast. This experience includes tasting the wines in the vineyard in which they are grown. The TT&T experience is two hours and available by appointment only for $50 per person, or $40 for wine club members.

“Our tours allow guests a range of experiences, whether they’d like to taste older vintage wines, enjoy the expansive views of west Paso Robles or kick the dirt of these historic and living vineyards,” said Adelaida Cellars Winery and Vineyard Ambassador Glenn Mitton.

Adelaida’s wine educators lead the private tastings and TT&T tours. Mitton and resident wine educator Tony Hermann helped conceptualize and launch the diverse tasting experiences. Hermann is a 30-year wine industry veteran who has extensive history with wine shops and restaurants.

The English-born Mitton brings 20 years of knowledge and extensive wine training to Adelaida Cellars. His previous experience in international wine distribution, owning and operating a retail wine shop, and contributions to private and national dining clubs brings additional expertise to the position. Before joining Adelaida, Mitton worked four years at Justin Vineyards and Winery, where he gained experience in production, the tasting room, and the wine society. He also spent one harvest at Venteux Vineyards in Templeton.

The tastings are by appointment only, with 24 hr. notice expected. you can book your reservation by emailing events@adelaida.com or calling (800) 676-1232 ext. 30.
