Adoptable pets of the week: Susie and Harper

– This week’s edition of North County Adoptable Pets of the Week features tabby cat Harper and sweet-tempered pit mix Susie.Harper

The featured cat this week is Harper from the North County Humane Society, a no-kill cat shelter and adoption center in Atascadero.

Harper lived in an apartment in Atascadero with her “sister” Summer. Harper and Summer each had three kittens, and their owner decided that keeping eight cats in one household was too much. They brought both mothers and kittens to NCHS. Summer and all six kittens have been adopted; now it is time for Harper to find a home.

Harper is 14 months old and has a beautiful, tortoiseshell tabby colored short hair coat. She is friendly and playful, and she gets along well with the other NCHS cats.  She has lived both indoor and outdoor.

Harper is now spayed, microchipped and has received her vaccinations. She is ready to go home with a new family today.

Available cats and kittens can be seen on the website at www.slonchs.org. Potential pet parents are also encouraged to stop by and visit with the cats to find the right one for their family.

The North County Humane Society is located just off of Highway 101 by the Del Rio Road exit at 2300 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero. They are open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Complete information is listed on the website, or call NCHS at (805) 466-5403, and ask for the “Crazy Cat Lady.”

The featured dog of the week is Susie from Second Chance at Love, a dog rescue and sanctuary in Templeton that takes in abandoned, neglected, abused or abandoned dogs.

Found in the streets with her eight-week old puppy, Susie was filthy, skinny and all alone. Susie just needed a second chance at love. Her puppy has been placed, and Susie is now happy, healthy and ready to find her forever home.

SusieShe has an amazing personality, and loves everyone she’s ever met. She is loyal and true and forges a tight bond with her human. Susie is housebroken, crate trained, and has impeccable house manners. She loves to ride in the car, and loves her daily pack walks with her other canine pack members. She’s dog social and great with people. A nice medium size, her markings are gorgeous, and she has the RCA patch over one eye.

Susie would do great in a family, or with someone who just wants to be her “person.” She just wants someone to love and trust.

For information about adopting Susie, visit the website or call (805) 434-3982.
