Albert Eustace Farrens, 86, passed away in his sleep after a brief illness on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 in Paso Robles.
Albert was born May 3, 1928 in New York to Charlotte M (McKechnie) and Eustace H Ackley as Albert E. Ackley, and soon was raised by his mother Charlotte M & Lawrence P. Farrens. As a young man Albert served in the armed forces and is a WWII veteran. During his service he was also a boxing champion for the US Navy. He then worked as an engineer for 35 years before retiring with Marion E Farrens, his wife of 45 years who passed in March 1999. He married Pauline Bjerke (Oldham) in 2000 and shared their home until Pauline became ill in 2013.
Albert loved his family, children and grandchildren and when not working spent his time with the kids coaching football & softball for kids and grandchildren, pulling the kids around the lake on skis, or just horsing around giving piggy back rides. Albert was a handy man and could fix almost anything and helped friends and neighbors whenever duty called. Albert was always there to offer a hand to help, an ear to listen to your latest woes, a drink to share, a song to sing to you, or a smile just to brighten your day.
Albert is survived by his wife Pauline, two sons and three daughters including Albert Farrens Jr. and his wife Louise, Mary Klauss and her husband Pete, Albert Farrens III and his wife Wylona, Marian Elizabeth Kelley, Charlotte Pattison and her husband Mark; three step children including Arley Simpson, Donald Wester and James Wester; Pauline’s four children including Randy Bjerke, Jan Lynch, Scoff Bjerke and Trace Bjerke and their families; eighteen grandchildren, and thirty great grandchildren; and his companion Jean Stahl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marion E. Farrens, son Paul Farrens and daughter Loretta Perusse.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m, Saturday, Jan. 17 at the Heritage Ranch Senior Center, 4880 Heritage Road, Paso Robles CA. Note to attendees: Upon entering Heritage Ranch, please advise the gate staff that you are attending Farrens’s celebration of life.
