Artist Erin Hanson showing at Studios of the Park
Show opens Sept. 1
–In September, artist Erin Hanson will present her 5th annual solo exhibition at Studios on the Park. This year Hanson will be presenting a collection of landscapes inspired by the diverse regions of California, from the Sierras to the coast, from dusky deserts to wild sunsets.
Erin Hanson first discovered Paso Robles during a romantic getaway, a trip that was initially scheduled to continue up the coast through Carmel and Big Sur. On that fateful day, Hanson said she stopped dead in her tracks, entranced by the beauty of Paso Robles.
Hanson proceeded to spend the week exploring Paso’s classic rolling green hills and expansive views. She drove for days through the winding outskirts of town, weaving through shadows cast by looming trees and gnarled branches.
At this time, Hanson, an already accomplished impressionistic artist, had spent the previous 4 years rock climbing and exploring the desert landscapes of Utah, Nevada, and Southern California. Her first trip to Paso Robles was a pivotal point in her career, causing an abrupt change in painting subject matter. A few hundred paintings later, Hanson’s paintings of California wine country have become synonymous with Paso Robles, her bright and colorful paintings still capturing the magic Hanson felt six years ago when she first discovered Paso.
