Atascadero City Hall open on Fridays once again

– Starting this Friday, the historic city hall at 6500 Palma Avenue in Atascadero will once again be open to the public on Fridays, with customer service being provided every weekday, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. The decision to reopen city hall on Fridays was made recently by the Atascadero City Council in response to requests from residents and in order to better serve the public.

Closing city hall on Fridays was a cost-saving measure implemented by the city during the economic downturn in 2009. Although staying within a tight budget is still a concern of the city, re-opening city hall to the public on Fridays and locating the funding to do so was a priority established by the council during their strategic planning sessions earlier this year.

City hall offers a wide variety of services for the public including applying for building permits, business licenses, park or facility reservations, documentation from past city council meetings, etc. Being open daily will provide the level of customer service needed to assist the public in getting what they need and not being limited to four days a week to take care of business.

City hall will remain closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr., Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day & the Friday after Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
