Atascadero woman suffers injuries when truck plunges off cliff 

On Saturday, Debra J. Lopez, 57, of Atascadero was involved in a solo vehicle traffic collision on Highway 1 south of Ragged Point, north of San Simeon, the California Highway Patrol reports. She was traveling southbound, when for unknown reasons, her 1996 GMC pick-up left the road and went down a steep embankment.

chp The vehicle overturned and came to rest on its roof, and could not be seen from the roadway. Lopez was able to extricate herself and climb the embankment to Highway 1 on Feb. 10 when she was able to get help. Lopez was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital for treatment of major injuries.

The information is preliminary at this time, and the collision is currently still under investigation, the report says. Anyone with information related to the collision is encouraged to call the CHP, Templeton Area at (805)434-1822.

Atascadero police said she was reported missing by her husband after she left home Saturday afternoon in the pick up to go to the store but returned, the San Luis Obispo Tribune reports.
