–The Paso Robles High School football team hosts Clovis North tonight (Friday) at War Memorial Stadium. The Bearcats are 4-0 after a 31-28 victory over Cajon High School last Friday in San Bernardino. Cajon came into the game undefeated at 3-0.

Clovis North is 3-1, losing only to Bellarmine High School of San Jose. They are led by senior quarterback Brent Bailey. At 6’1″ and 200 pounds, Bailey can run and throw the ball. Against Edison High School last week, Bailey rushed for 194 yards and two touchdowns.

The previous Friday night against Buhach Colony High School, Bailey completed 16 of 22 passes for 293 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. He also ran for 89 yards.

“He is the real deal,” said Coach Rich Schimke. “He is fast and he throws well, too.” Bailey is backed up by his younger brother, sophomore Carson Bailey.

The Bearcats came from behind to beat undefeated teams in each of the past two games. They beat McClymonds 48-44 two weeks ago in Oakland’s inner city. That was the first home field loss for the Warriors since 2009.football

Against the Cajon Cowboys last Friday night in San Bernardino, senior Blake Adame intercepted a pass late in the 4th quarter to stop a potential game-winning drive by the Cowboys. Then, from the Bearcats own two-yard line, quarterback Steve Schouten completed a 75-yard pass play to receiver Seth Matthysse to set up Christian Ericksen for the go-ahead touchdown and two-point conversion.

Coach Schimke says the Bearcats are healthy and ready to play a home game after two consecutive, two-hundred mile road trips.

“The players are excited about playing in front of the hometown crowd,” Coach Schimke told Paso Robles Daily News. “So am I.”

The game begins at 7 tonight (Friday) at War Memorial Stadium in Paso Robles. A big crowd is expected from Clovis.
