The newest local hot spot for food-friendly wines and locavore cuisine, Burbank Ranch Winery & Bistro, held a Grand Opening celebration on Feb. 19, 2014. It’s located at 1240 Park St. in downtown Paso Robles.

The festivities began at 1 p.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Paso Robles and Templeton Chambers of Commerce, followed by another ribbon cutting by the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce at 5 p.m. The remainder of the evening featured passed appetizers by Chef Nicholas Nolan, crafted specifically to pair with complimentary glasses of Burbank Ranch 2012 Estate Sauvignon Blanc and 2012 Estate Zinfandel, which recently won honors at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Burbank Ranch Winery & Bistro is the result of proprietors Fred and Melody Burbank’s lifelong passion for balanced wines matched with sumptuous cuisine. The Burbank Ranch Vineyard, located in the Paso Robles American Viticulture Area, is home to dozens of winegrape varietals, each chosen to complement the distinctive growing conditions of the El Pomar District. Ranch Manager, Ruben Nodal, meticulously guides the vines’ expression of terroir through to the cellar, where respected Winemaker, Steve Anglim, captures that expression in balanced, food-friendly wines.

After years of traveling the world’s most illustrious winegrowing regions, the Burbanks are fervent about making wines to complement food, and the Burbank Ranch Bistro is an extension of that philosophy. Chef Nolan, whose background includes stints at Paso Robles’ Artisan Restaurant and Craft in Los Angeles, has worked in kitchens across the world. Chef Nolan brings his passion for local flavors and the finest ingredients to Burbank Ranch’s French bistro cuisine with a California twist.

The competition – which is the largest in the world for American wines – judged a record 5,825 entries from over 1,500 wineries from over 25 states.

Proprietors of Burbank Ranch, Fred and Melody Burbank, point to the expertise of Winemaker, Steve Anglim, Ranch Manager, Ruben Nodal, and the terroir of Paso Robles’ El Pomar District as reasons for the honors. “Steve is a rockstar winemaker, and we’re so fortunate to have him on the team,” says Fred Burbank. “He knows exactly how to carry through and reflect Ruben’s meticulous work in the vineyard to each glass of Burbank Ranch wine.”

About Burbank Ranch Winery & Bistro

Comprised of vineyards in Paso Robles’ El Pomar District, a downtown Paso Robles eatery and full service tasting room, Burbank Ranch Winery & Bistro is devoted to producing food-friendly wines that elegantly complement their own house-made fresh market cuisine.
