City adds 45 parking spaces downtown

Parking availability designed to make downtown more accessibleparking-spaces-downtown-paso-robles

–Following Paso Robles City Council approval of a resolution, the city hired local contractor Paul Viborg to paint additional angled parking stalls in the downtown area. This parking was installed to increase the availability of parking, and to provide opportunities for downtown employees to have more parking at the edge of the downtown shopping core.

Paso Robles has a vibrant downtown served by a number of restaurants, retailers, and other businesses that cater to both local residents and tourists.

Parking availability helps to make the downtown more accessible and convenient to shoppers and diners. The shortage of parking has been a problem, especially during special events and the holiday shopping season.

In some blocks, additional parking can be added with paint and signs only, at a minimal cost.

Angle parking can provide additional parking when compared to parallel parking, and is generally easier to use for the motoring public. Adding parking spaces in the downtown now is a desired first step in the city’s multi-step plan, approved by the council in the budget process, to increase the number of spaces in the core downtown that are available for shoppers, by decreasing the number of spaces used by business owners, employees, and other all-day parkers.
