City Council to review options to address short-term/vacation rentals

Meeting will be held March 15 at 6:30 p.m.Paso-Robles-City-Logo

–On March 15, the Paso Robles City Council will be discussing an agenda item regarding the city’s short term/vacation rental policy. The council will be reviewing public input received from residents at a community forum held in Nov. 2015. The community forum was attended by over 130 people. Attendees included neighborhood residents, and owners and operators of short-term/vacation rentals. Vacation rentals include rental of homes or individual rooms in homes for less than 30 consecutive days.

As the popularity of short-term rentals for tourist lodging increases, the city wants to ensure compatibility with surrounding neighborhoods and conformance with the municipal code. It is also important that vacation rentals pay transient occupancy taxes or “bed-tax,” as do hotels. The council will be providing guidance to staff on how to move forward to address these and related issues.

The City Council meeting will be held on March, 15, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, located at Paso Robles City Hall, 1000 Spring Street, Paso Robles.
