City offers Christmas tree recycling and free mulch

Christmas TreeCelebrating a “green” Christmas is an established tradition in the City of Paso Robles. This year, as in years past, the city will accept recycled Christmas trees, grind them into mulch, and provide the mulch to residents free of charge.

Starting Friday, Dec. 26, and continuing through Friday, Jan. 9th, residents may bring their bare Christmas trees to the City lot on the corner of 4th and Pine Streets. The lot will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry is through the south gate.

The city can only provide this service if residents bring in bare trees with no flocking, no tinsel, no ornaments, no stands and no artificial trees. Drop-offs are for residential trees only. The city is not taking remaining trees from Christmas tree lots.

Pick up free mulch

Starting Tuesday, Jan. 6, and continuing through Friday, Jan. 16, mulch will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Loading and hauling is the responsibility of the individual. Mulch may be picked up at the city lot on the corner of 4th and Pine Streets, which will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entry is through the south gate.
