–On Saturday, Jan. 23, San Luis Obispo High School will host the third annual Color Blast Fun Run, a charity run benefitting Alex Cherry Maier Memorial Fund for college scholarships. The day will begin with pre-race entertainment at 9 a.m., with the 5k run/walk starting at 10 a.m. Same day registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Over the past 2 years more than 4,000 runners have helped raised more than $80,000 and awarded more than 40 scholarships. Scholarships are need-based and favor athletes with “heart.” There is no GPA requirement. The scholarships are $500 to $2,300 each.

Alex Maier was a soccer player at San Luis Obispo High School who was killed in a car accident in 2013.

San Luis Obispo High School is located at 1499 San Luis Drive in San Luis Obispo.
