Steve McCarty is new board president

The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County recently announced its board of directors for 2015. Steve McCarty, owner of Stafford McCarty Commercial Real Estate, is the foundation’s new president. Mary Verdin, owner of Verdin Marketing is vice president. Bill Raver of Morro Bay will continue as treasurer, and Jim Glinn, owner of San Luis Sports Therapy, is the new secretary.

The Community Foundation welcomes Joan Parker to the board after serving as chair on the marketing committee for two years. Parker is founder and CEO of Empowering Financial Solutions, Inc. “Joan’s experience in the local financial community brings a new perspective, and will be a tremendous asset as our Board continues to focus on strengthening San Luis Obispo County in perpetuity,” said McCarty.

Board members serve two-year terms, with term limits of six years for officers. Ann Robinson completed her term as president and is now a director emerita of the foundation. “Ann’s leadership was exemplary during a time of tremendous change at the Foundation, and it has been an honor to serve with her on the Board,” said McCarty. Nick Thille also stepped off the board after serving for six years, two of those as Secretary.

The Community Foundation has supported the county with grants totaling more than $26 million. The foundation’s assets under management have grown to more than $47 million, and provide support to all aspects of the community in perpetuity.
