–Congressional District 24 candidates will come to Cuesta College’s San Luis Obispo Campus on April 21 for a candidates forum exploring key topics of concern to local California voters.

Moderated by “Charter Local Edition” anchor Brad Pomerance, the two-hour event will begin at 6 p.m. with questions from Cuesta College faculty and students and inquiries collected from the audience. The forum will be cablecast at a later date on Charter channel 188, Cox channel 8, and the California Channel (177 on the Charter San Luis Obispo County system).

All nine registered candidates (in alphabetical order: Katcho Achadjian, Salud Carbajal, Justin Fareed, Steve Isakson, Matt Kokkonen, Benjamin Lucas, William Ostrander, Helene Schneider and John Uebersax) vying for the seat vacated by Congresswoman Lois Capps are scheduled to appear at the Cuesta College event. Capps announced in April 2015 that she would not seek reelection to the position she has held since 1998. District 24 includes all of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, as well as a portion of Ventura County.

The April 21 forum is the first of two candidate meetings to be televised on the Charter and Cox networks. Following the June 7 primary election, the District 24 race’s top two candidates will face off again in September during a second forum in Santa Barbara prior to the Nov. 8 general election.

The April 21 event will be held in the Cuesta College Associated Students Auditorium, Building 5400, Room 5401, on the San Luis Obispo Campus, from 6 – 8 p.m. The event is free; however, reserved seating is available by emailing CD24@charter.com. Free parking will be available in Lots 2 and 2a on a first come, first served basis.
