Council authorizes repair of Tower Road well

– At Tuesday night’s Paso Robles City Council meeting, the council authorized repair of Tower Road water well. The project has a projected cost of $62,274 ($56,613 + 10% contingency) which will be taken from the Water Enterprise Fund reserves.

City of Paso Robles

The city has nineteen active production wells which pump groundwater from the Paso Robles Groundwater Basin and the Salinas River underflow. During high demand periods (May through October) all production wells must be fully operational to provide for the community’s water needs. Summertime demands can exceed well production by two to three million gallons per day.

Any disruptions of well production can have a negative impact on daily production and the ability to maintain sufficient emergency and fire storage. Tower Road well can provide the community about 0.8 million-gallons per day. Since being installed in 2007 the Tower Road well has run a total of 2,833 hours and has pumped some 8,200 acre-feet of water. In March 2015 the well was taken out of service due to excessive vibration and other mechanical issues.
