Council endorses street maintainence progress

On Tuesday evening, the Paso Robles City Council reviewed a report from the city’s Supplemental Tax Oversight Committee, which has funded several streets projects over the summer of 2014, with more in the works. According to city staff, the council has accomplished several projects since the passage of the sales tax increase in November 2012.

The council voted 4-0, with Councilman Jim Reed absent, to receive and file the report. Mayor Steve Martin pulled the item from the Consent Calendar for the report and discussion.

Completed projects

  • Rolling Hills – Creston Road to Golden Hill
  • South River – Niblick Road to Navajo
  • County Club – Niblick Road to parking lot
  • Airport Road – Pioneer Trail to Linne
  • 21st Street – Spring Street to Vine — partially funded with sales tax

Streets currently in construction

  • Spring Street – 16th to 24th
  • Union Road – Kleck to Montebello Oaks (partially funded with sales tax)
  • Riverside – 10th to 12th (partially funded with sales tax)

Future projects from grant funds

  • Rambouillet – Niblick to Nicklaus
  • 13th Street Bridge Improvements
  • New off/on ramp at 17th Street
  • Additional lane at southbound on-ramp at 24th Street
  • Pavement re-striping and refreshment of Theater Drive, Dallons Drive, South River Oaks, Paso Robles Street, Airport Road — Meadowlark to Pioneer Trail — and Melody Drive

Projects from general fund reserves and transit funds

  • Hot Spot repairs on Vine at 12th Street, Fourth at Pine, Niblick Road east of Melody, Eighth at ParkStreet, 24th and Riverside, Charolais at Ladera and east of Arbolado Road, Pacific at Merry Hill and Golden Hill at Vista Colina
  • Resurfacing of the Parking Lot at the North County Transportation Center

The next phase of projects for this summer

  • 12th Street – Spring to Fresno (partially funded with a $1.2 million grant)
  • Walnut – Creston to Union
  • Jackson – Union to Shannon Hill
  • Shannon Hill – Creston to Jackson
  • Scott Street – Creston to Airport
