The First District is about 651,000 acres, with a population of approximately 53,860 residents. There is one incorporated city in the district which is Paso Robles.

Hamon is a fourth generation son of the Central Coast, a 1976 graduate of Cal Poly, a general and specialty contractor, and has owned and operated the family’s garage door business for nearly 40 years.

Hamon began his public service in 1985, with the Paso Robles Volunteer Fire Department, where he served for nineteen years. He was appointed to the city’s Planning Commission and then elected to the City Council in 2006. Hamon currently sits on many city commissions and regional policy boards including the Nacimiento Water Commission, Integrated Waste Management, and the San Luis Obispo Air Pollution Control Board.
