Create one-of-a-kind holiday gifts with Paso Robles Recreation Classes

Paso Robles Recreation to Offer Holiday Classes

–With the holiday season looming, the City of Paso Robles is offering a chance for folks to create unique holiday treasures for gift giving this year with several holiday classes where participants will create hand-made and heartfelt gifts for most everyone on their list.

Make a holiday wreath—get into the holiday spirit by creating a beautiful wreath, perfect to hang on the front door or inside one’s home for some holiday cheer. A fresh wreath makes the perfect heart-felt holiday gift. During this class, attendees will make and adorn a 12″ holiday wreath using fresh greenery. Step by step instructions will be provided. A $25 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the class.

Location: Centennial Park Live Oak Room. Instructor: Skye Ravy. Ages: 10Y+. Days: Thursday. Time: 6 – 8 p.m. Dates: Dec. 15. Fee: $25/class.

Holiday Bead Bazaar—Gift-giving season is here, sign up for the Holiday Bead Bazaar and create three projects that you can give away or keep for yourself. Handmade and heartfelt is the theme for this class. Students will make a bracelet, bookmark and ornament. Instructions and supplies will be given in the first hour. Soy Candle-Making—Hand-made candles make the perfect holiday gift for friends, family, co-workers and teachers. During this two-hour class, students learn to create beautiful hand-poured and decorated natural vegetable soy candles. Learn about melting the wax, creating colors, choosing fragrances and selecting the right wick for your candle and container. You’ll have a chance to personalize your creations by decorating your candle containers as well. Questions? Cooking Class: Holiday Side Dishes—It’s time to start thinking about what side dishes you’re going to be wowing your friends and family with during this holiday season. Most everyone has the specialties that they love to make, but this is the year to branch out a little, get creative and try something new that will be a hit with family and friends. This class will be all about new holiday side dishes. Chef Bruce will use ingredients that most participants are familiar with, and maybe some that are new. There will be a lot of new flavors to experience and Chef Bruce promises that there will be no green bean casseroles at this cooking class. Questions, contact Chef Bruce Finch at (805) 369-2043 or bruce@apartyforyourpalate.com. A $25 food and supply fee is payable to the instructor at the class.

Cooking Class: Comfort Food—It just seems to be that time of year when our thoughts turn to foods and meals that make us feel cozy inside. Just in time for the holidays, this class is all about comfort foods. Beyond the recipe, Chef Bruce will talk about certain tricky ingredients, or the secrets to creating dishes we all love and crave. There may be foods you have come to know and love and perhaps something new to try, but either way, it’s all about great home cooked food for you to share with friends and family. Come hungry to this class.

These two classes below are perfect for youth (12+) and adults and are an excellent activity during Thanksgiving and winter break. These classes are a fun way for adults to learn how to create stories to share with their children and grandchildren as a holiday surprise as well.

Create your Own Digital Book Using Google Slides—This class makes the book-writing process easy as you learn how to create your own digital book using Google Slides. Perhaps you’ll create a holiday story of your adventures during the past year. You can even write a personalized story for a family member to create a one-of-a-kind present just for them. Try your hand at storytelling or capturing that family history or recipe book you’ve been meaning to write. The possibilities are as endless as your own creativity. You can choose to create either a visual book or a text-based book. Enthrall your readers by adding video to your book as well. Share your book online or download and print it for all to enjoy. Interested? Join us for this exciting two-day class. All you need is a gmail account and a story to share. Experience with Google Slides is not a requirement. Create Your Adventure Story. Using Google Forms—Have you ever read a Choose Your Own Adventure story and wished that you could write your own? Well, now you can. Using Google Forms, you will learn how to insert images and video to make your story engaging for your readers. During this two class course you will map your story, create the Google Form and customize it. Once your story is finished you can share it with family and friends across the country or across the world. Imagine the excitement you will create when you design an adventure story for your family and friends. Think of the joy your readers will feel as they read a personalized story written by you featuring them as the main characters. Interested? Sign up now and get ready to create an adventure of your choosing. The best part is, Google Forms is a part of Google Apps and it’s free.
