Creston Road Corridor awarded Caltrans grant
Planning grant to assist city to develop community vision for Creston Road Corridor
–The City of Paso Robles will be awarded a $185,000 planning grant from Caltrans to assist in developing a community vision for the Creston Road Corridor from South River Road to Niblick Road. The grant will be used to fund comprehensive neighborhood and community outreach to request input and ideas for improvements to the corridor.
The grant program was created to provide a safe, sustainable, integrated and efficient transportation system to enhance economy and livability. Design features that could be included in the road improvements are safe routes to school, bike access and pedestrian access that meet the American Disability Act (ADA). The road will also be resurfaced as part of the upgrade plans.
In the next few months, Paso Robles City staff will schedule neighborhood workshops and meetings to request input on what residents envision Creston Road should look like. After development of a master plan, the city will apply for further $5-8 million grant to aid in construction costs.
