Donald Lawrence Stewart dies at 90 

Stewart, Donald.photo– Donald Lawrence Stewart, 90 years of age of Idaho Falls, formerly from Salmon, Idaho and the Pahsimeroi Valley passed away on July 29, 2015 in Medford, Oregon. Graveside services were held Aug. 7, 2015 at the Salmon Cemetery with Pastor Russell Lehman.

Donald was born on Feb. 28, 1925 in San Miguel, California the son of Homer and Blanche (Hambly) Stewart. Stewart and his sister Charlotte went to school and graduated from Paso Robles High School. He met Dorothy Jespersen while attending school and was united in marriage to Jespersen in 1943. Through this union three children were born: Larry, Gloria and Donna. They made their home in Paso Robles, California where he worked hard in farming and harvesting grain in Estrella, California.

In 1963 they moved to the Pahsimeroi Valley and purchased the Double Springs Ranch where they raised cattle and hay. They then sold the ranch and in 1975 Don and Dorothy moved to another ranch north of Salmon where they continued to ranch, raise hay and garden. Stewart enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his greatest joy in life was being in the outdoors hunting, and fishing. They were later divorced in 1986.

Stewart was united in marriage to Patsy Urich in 1987 and the two moved to Idaho Falls. Stewart worked for the Post Register in Idaho Falls for about a year in Maintenance then retired. They enjoyed riding motorcycles and he continued to go hunting, fishing and camping. They were married nearly 20 years before Patsy’s Alzheimer’s became apparent.

He is survived by his son Larry (Kathy) Stewart of Grants Pass, Oregon; daughter Gloria (Lowell) Ubl of Littlefield, Arizona; six grandchildren: Sandy (Sam) Willet, of Grants Pass, Oregon, Sherri (Tracey) Young, of Jacksonville, Oregon Brandy Radtke, of Peoria, Oregon, Dustin Charlesworth of Mesa, Arizona , Leah Madsen (Terry Stratton) of Salmon, Idaho, Heath (Toria) Madsen of Blackfoot, Idaho; great-grandchildren: Samantha Willet and Sydney Willet of Grants Pass, Oregon, Michael Radtke of Juno, Alaska, Kelly Radtke of Peoria, Oregon, Maquell Madsen and Wylee Madsen of Blackfoot, Idaho, Kelsey (Blake) Grover of Pocatello, Idaho, Karly Jarnagin and Garrett Jarnagin of Salmon, Idaho, Kelly (Jacquelyn) Stratton of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii, Katie Stratton and Bo Kaufman of Salmon, Idaho; great-great grandchildren: Tyler Stratton of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii, Cadence and Brody Kaufman of Salmon, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Donna Stewart, wife Patsy, sister Charlotte Jensen and son in law Fred Radtke.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & Casey Funeral Home of Salmon, Idaho.
