Preliminary investigation indicates no injuries to driver

–A driver in a silver Mercedes sedan crashed Friday morning into a concrete wall on S. River Road near Creston Road, according to eye witness reports.

The incident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. No injuries were reported, according to Paso Robles Police Sgt. Tod Rehner.

The preliminary investigation indicated the elderly driver, a male in his 70’s, may have had a medical episode that caused him to temporarily lose control of the vehicle.

The vehicle had been traveling northbound on River Rd. crossing Creston Rd., when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle jumped the center raised island, crossed into the southbound lane of River Rd., and struck the concrete abutment on the sidewalk on the opposite side of the roadway. The driver was not injured; however, was transported for precautionary reasons to Twin Cites Hospital. The vehicle sustained major damage. There was also city property damage as a wrought iron fence was struck by the vehicle, Rehner said.
