The AARP Foundation Tax Aide program recognized Earl Hatt of Heritage Ranch for 20 years of volunteer work preparing income tax returns for seniors and low to moderate income taxpayers in Paso Robles. The presentation was made by the Tax Aide state coordinator, Paul Nibarger, along with the San Luis Obispo County coordinators, Jim Claypool and Stan Marquis.

Hatt started preparing tax returns in 1995, doing them by hand in the old senior center near downtown Paso Robles. Last year more than 700 state and federal returns were prepared and electronically filed by Tax Aide volunteers at the Paso Robles Veterans Building and Library.
