When Jim and April Romig decided to open Elan Vital Furniture & Design, they realized it was time to bring something new and unique – quality furniture, accessories, and custom designs, or what they call “extraordinary living” to local residents. Now, as they celebrate their success, the Romig’s are extending a special “thank you” to the community by offering 20 percent off all custom upholstery throughout the month of May.

Elan Vital is a unique design and furniture store in Paso Robles with three designers on staff that offer house calls and one hour of free design service to all clients. Free? Absolutely – an Elan Vital professional designer will meet with and take a new client through the showroom and then make a trip to the client’s home for an hour consultation.
“We listen to what the customer wants and needs, and then we help them meet that need or desire,” said April. April and her fellow designers pride themselves on focusing on and listening to their customer. “It’s not about us, or about pushing our designs on people. We listen to the customer; hear what the customer wants in their space, and help them to achieve that. It’s all about making the customer happy – it’s her home and she needs to love it. Our goal is to help every customer love their home; we want to provide a space they are happy to come home to.”

April oversees the designers while also managing the retail store and operations. With ten years of sales, management, and design experience, she has a true passion for design along with the ability to discern the individual needs of her clients. Jim, a general contractor, previously owned and operated several businesses in the Monterey Peninsula area. In addition to owning a local construction business, he is available to help Elan Vital customers with any and all handyman services.
“Jim not only co-owns Elan Vital, but he does everything from handyman services all the way up to full spectrum building,” said April. “So when our clients need something he’s happy to do work for them as well.”
Recently, April had a client that needed to have some painting done to compliment her newly-designed furniture – Jim was able to complete the painting for her for a fair price. Another client needed to hang a chandelier in her redesigned bathroom; Jim was available to provide installation services.
“In cases like these, our clients were able to get everything they wanted completed through our services,” said April.

Calling interior design her passion, April says that she enjoys helping people, being creative, and sharing her talents with others.
