Emergency services department conducts hazardous materials training
The training was based on a simulated leak of an industrial chemical
–Members of the Paso Robles Emergency Services Department and other fire and safety agencies recently participated in a Hazardous Materials training exercise hosted by Lubrizol Corporation, located near the airport. The training was based on a simulated leak of an industrial chemical from one of the facilities 5,000 gallon tanks. The plant conducted an evacuation and initiated the 911 call for outside assistance. The regional Hazmat team responded, with members from all FD agencies in the county and environmental health, to develop an action plan and mitigate the leak.
The team had the leak repaired within 90 minutes from the initial call and had the plant back up and running shortly thereafter. It was a successful training day for all parties involved.
