‘End Drone Warfare’ says Fox Theater

Paso-end-drone-warfare-fox-theaterAnti-war slogan is reportedly vandalism

An anti-war political slogan was posted outside the Fox Theater on Spring Street in downtown Paso Robles last week. The protest message “End Drone Warfare” was placed on the barricade in front of the old theater box office.

The letters were cut from corrugated plastic and drilled into the red wooden wall. The marque above is decked out with brightly colored letters spelling “PASO” with a peace symbol in the “O”. Posters for a music album’s release were posted a few days later and appear unrelated.

The owner of the theater, a local resident currently residing in San Francisco, was contacted by the Paso Robles Police Department, according to a report by KRPL Radio. “He advised the posting was vandalism and not authorized by the owner,” the radio station reported. According to county records, the property at 1436 Spring Street is owned by Turano, Turano & Thompson Inc. It has been for sale on the real estate market from time to time, but is not currently listed.

About a year ago, a listing reported that the historic Fox Theater building, built in 1922, on orginal El Camino Real Hwy is currently gutted by the owner and ready for developement. Plans for a three-story event center have been approved by the city planning committee, to include retail frontage, banquet space, office space and a roof top cafe; or bring your imagination and dreams. “This is the opportunity of a lifetime to invest in a wonderful downtown atmosphere,” it said.
