Episode 4 of ‘You Don’t Know Paso’ show released
–PasosBestWines.com released today a new web episode of “You Don’t Know Paso.” It’s fourth in a seven-part wine tasting game show hosted by Chris Kern, founder of PasosBestWines.com, an online wine shop for boutique wineries in Paso Robles.
“We’ve reached the midpoint of the “You Don’t Know Paso” season and the action is getting more competitive than ever,” says Kern. “Join Paso Robles wine experts Zara Landrum, Lannon Rust, and Scott Brennan sd they are challenged with a ‘tricky little Sauvignon Blanc’ that seems so familiar on the tip of their tongues.”
“You Don’t Know Paso” tests the wine skills, tasting ability, and guile of six Paso Robles wine experts as they are asked to taste wines completely “blind” and score points by identifying the wine’s key components. Similar to popular televised poker tournaments, the viewers will know all aspects of the wine as the experts taste, so they can play along at home and judge how close the experts come to the correct answers.
The experts challenge each other; mock and intimidate; confer, defer and demur; sniff, swirl, and sip; and ultimately put all of their wine tasting experience and skills to the test as they break down the wines and take a stab at identifying its core components: grape variety, vintage, region of origin, producer, and price.
Points are scored in each category for nailing the correct answer or coming close to the price and vintage, with the expert who earns the most points in each episode declared the winner. After the six preliminary round-robin episodes, the three highest cumulative point-earners move on to the grand final, where only the most-skilled expert will walk away with the title of “Grand Champion Taster of Paso Robles.”
Featured on the series are six Paso Robles wine experts: Adam Lazarre, former “Winemaker of the Year” and owner of Lazarre Wines; Lannon Rust, wine director at Thomas Hill Organics restaurant in Paso Robles; Katie Gebauer, tasting room manager and chief wine educator at Cass Winery; Zara Landrum, former wine buyer and wine director at Centrally Grown in Cambria; David Wilson, nationally syndicated radio host of “Grape Encounters Radio” and proprietor of Atascadero’s Grape Encounters Wine Emporium; and Scott Brennan, founder and publisher of the Paso Robles Daily News and SLO County Visitors Guide.
New episodes of “You Don’t Know Paso” will be released every Thursday following the premiere until the Grand Final episode, which will air on Thursday, June 30.
