–There will be a Veterans Day ceremony at the Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial in Atascadero, located at the intersection of Highway 41 West and Portola Road in Atascadero, on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 to honor all veterans, especially those who have made the supreme sacrifice.

The ceremony will commence at 11 a.m. and will include a “Flyover” with the “Missing Man Formation” by the Estrella Warbirds and performances by the Atascadero High School Show Choir and the Central Coast Pipes and Drums. The guest speaker will be former Air Force fighter pilot, author and Vietnam Veteran George Marrett, and recognition of two Distinguished Veterans of the Year nominees, both of whom are WWII veterans. One is a former Marine who fought on Iwo Jima, the bloodiest battle in Marine Corps history and another who served in B-17’s with the 8th Air Force in Europe.

A wreath for the fallen will be placed and over 20 veterans will receive special recognition by the Quilts of Valor organization. Following the ceremony, which is free to all, there will be a BBQ prepared by the local Kiwanis Club of Atascadero.
