It’s more than just a century ride

The Paso Robles Event Center is hosting the 49th Annual Great Western Bicycle Rally this Memorial Day weekend – May 24-27, 2013. The rally includes competitions and a fully-supported 100-mile century ride, and shorter 100-kilometer metric century ride.

There will be live music, wine tasting, a vendor expo and more. Riders are welcomed to join an organized group ride or any of the 25 available routes with friends and family.

The rally is the coming together of people for a common interest. In the case of the Great Western Bicycle Rally, that common interest is cycling. Whether you are a seasoned veteran of many long-distance adventures, or a new cyclist looking to learn more about cycling. The rally provides many opportunities to ride, share stories, learn and simply enjoy the company of fellow cyclists. While the rally includes some amazing supported Century and Metric Century rides with the Great Western 100, the rally offers so much more. If you can only make it to Paso Robles for one day, riders can register for only the Velo de Femme or Great Western 100.

Rally Competitions

Want to challenge yourself a bit at the Rally? There are several opportunities to test yourself against the clock and against your fellow Rally cyclists with some fun competitions. You will have the chance to compete for one of the Rally’s coveted Rainbow Jerseys to show that you are the best. Some of the competitions include the Time Trial, which is held on a 10 mile course. The challenging Hill Climb that puts cyclists to the test on the steep climb up Hilltop street. For those who like to rack up the miles, our Ultra Distance competition is for you. There are also several fun competitions that take place over the long weekend. Bring out your best and see how you do.
