Greyhounds cage the Panthers

Atascadero 31, Pioneer Valley 14

–The Atascadero Greyhounds earned a 31-14 victory at home over the visiting Pioneer Valley Panthers to bring their overall record to 4-1 before the start of PAC 5 League action on Oct. 16 when they travel to Righetti to take on the Warriors (1-4).

Two touchdowns from senior running back Marc Martin and one from junior Tysen Delkener gave the Hounds a commanding 21-0 lead over the Panthers going into halftime.

After adding a touchdown for Atascadero in the third quarter courtesy of senior running back RJ Reusche, Logan Armstrong’s later kicked in a 22-yard field goal to seal the Hounds’ 31-0 win over Pioneer Valley.

Martin had 117 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Atascadero, with Reusche finishing with 73 receiving and 40 rushing yards.

The Hounds are set to host the James Logan Colts (5-1) out of Union City on Friday, Oct. 9 in their final non-league game of the season before beginning PAC 5 League play. Varsity action starts at 7 p.m., with the JV players taking the field at 4 p.m.
