Bearcats earn water polo wins over Greyhounds, Panthers

On Tuesday, the Bearcats defeated the Atascadero Greyhounds, 7-4 in league water polo action.

The sister duo of senior Marina Smeltzer and freshman Tatiana Smeltzer garnered six goals, scoring three apiece.

Bearcats football paso roblesAs a team, the Bearcats were able to draw four penalty shots and six 6-on-5 opportunities, according to Coach Grant East, and goalkeeper Lauren Root had nine saves.

On Thursday, the Paso Robles girls beat the Pioneer Valley Panthers, 16-0.

Nine separate Bearcats scored in the contest; multiple goal scorers were: Tatiana Smeltzer with four goals, Emily Christian with three, and Halle Nash and Mackenzie Raymond scored two goals each.

With the wins, the Bearcats are now 10-6 overall (3-1 in PAC-8). The team will travel to the Oxnard Tournament this weekend to play Eagle Rock and Malibu, with league play continuing on Tuesday, Jan. 24 as the Bearcats host the Righetti Warriors at the Municipal Pool at 4 p.m.

Bearcats defeat the Warriors

The Paso Robles boys defeated the Righetti Warriors, 1-0 on Tuesday.

Benjamin Permenko scored the game-winning goal for the Bearcats in the second half, unassisted. Goalkeeper Victor Rodriguez had a shutout, along with four saves.

With the win, the Bearcats are currently 10-4-1 overall (3-2-0 PAC-8). They will travel to SLO on Friday to play Mission Prep at 6 p.m.

Paso Robles loses to Righetti

The Paso Robles boys suffered a loss to Righetti on Tuesday, with the Warriors defeating the Bearcats, 70-53.

Gabe Linn led the Bearcats with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Sebastian Galsim scored 11 points, Suilal Ngiraitpang had nine points, and Griffin Betancourt had eight points and three rebounds.

The Bearcats travel to SLO on Friday to play Mission Prep at 7 p.m.

Shandon loses to Cuyama, beats Maricopa

The Shandon boys suffered a 64-53 loss in an away game at Cuyama Valley.

The Outlaws fell behind early to the Bears and, although they managed to close the gap somewhat, they were unable to secure the win.

On Thursday, the Outlaws were victorious over the visiting Maricopa Indians, earning a 56-39 win.

Jose Hernandez led Shandon with 18 points.

The Outlaws will travel to Cambria on Tuesday to play Coast Union at 6:30 p.m.

Bearcats suffer loss to Warriors

On Tuesday, the Paso Robles girls lost to Righetti, with the Warriors earning a 58-27 win over the Bearcats.

Sydney Meneses scored nine points for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats, currently 3-3 in league and 6-8 overall, travel to SLO on Friday to play Mission Prep at 6 p.m.

Shandon defeated by Bears, Indians

In Tuesday’s away game at Cuyama Valley, the Shandon girls came back from a 23-12 deficit in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, outscoring their opponents 11-2, but it was not enough for the win as the Bears defeated the Outlaws, 25-23.

The Outlaws hosted Maricopa on Thursday, with the Indians earning a close victory over the Outlaws, 45-42.

Michelle Rodriquez led the Outlaws with 10 points.

The Outlaws will play an away game in Cambria against Coast Union on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
