Twin Cities Hospital is hosting seminars in July

Insurance and health experts help navigate new mandates under the Affordable Care Act

health insurance seminars at hospitalTwin Cities Community Hospital will host three free public forums in the month of July to help locals discover how the new health insurance laws, eligibility regulations and options under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) affect them.

The seminars will be held at: the City Council Chambers in Paso Robles on July 1, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; the Mission San Miguel Parish Hall in San Miguel on July 8, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.; and at Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton on July 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A team of local health insurance professionals along with hospital medical staff will present the educational seminars titled “Understanding the Individual Mandate to Purchase Health Insurance,” reviewing the important facets of the ACA, which mandates that every eligible citizen must have health insurance by January 1, 2014, or pay a penalty.

With only four months before open enrollment for health insurance programs begins, in October 2013, the seminars aim to explain the eligibility requirements for subsidized health plans to the estimated 15,000 San Luis Obispo County citizens that stand to benefit from them.

Twin Cities Community Hospital’s CEO Mark Lisa says, “Twin Cities’ Family of Services looks forward to this opportunity to serve as an ambassador for health reform and an advocate for our uninsured patients. In the wake of what has proven to be a confusing new law, we hope to help locals navigate the plans, coverage, and enrollment processes.”

More public seminars will be presented at various locations throughout the region through October 2013. For a full schedule of seminars. The free forums are open to the public, but seating is limited. People interested in attending should call (800) 483-6387 to reserve a space.
