Howard Products donates $5,000 to homeless shelter

Howard Products of Paso Robles recently donated $5,000 to assist North County’s homeless shelter El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO).

“Donations from companies like Howard Products of Paso Robles help ECHO continue to provide shelter, meals and essential services to homeless families and individuals,” said ECHO Board President Jim Patterson. “The support of businesses is critical for ECHO to help our community’s homeless population.” ECHO_Shelter

Howard Products is a manufacturer of a broad range of wood-care products including polishing, refinishing, and “Restore-A-Finish.” Their products are found in antique shops and major retailers such as Home Depot, as well as distributed internationally. Doug Howard started the company in 1969, and today his sons, Eric and Kevin, run the business.

“I’ve watched my parents for years now, working with their church to help ECHO,” said Eric Howard, COO, Howard Products. “We are following in our parent’s tradition. We want to pay back our North County community for all that we’ve received and we want to do our part to help meet the needs of the homeless.”

ECHO has 50 beds and four family rooms. “I’ve helped at ECHO for about nine years,” said volunteer Robin Smith. “What I’ve seen over that time are homeless families with kids. Recently we had six families with 16 children. This has become the norm at ECHO.”

The Howard family has supported ECHO for many years. “A silent but proud part of the of the local homeless community are veterans,” said Eric Howard. “They are trying to find their way back into the society they helped to defend. The Howard Family strongly believes that everyone who is able, including local businesses, should donate or help in any way they can. ECHO will do the rest.”
