The Paso Robles Public Schools Board of Trustees announced Wednesday they have selected Jim Brescia to serve as the Interim Superintendent of Paso Schools to bridge the gap between July 1, when current Superintendent Kathy McNamara retires, until a new Superintendent is in place.

Brescia is currently the Superintendent of Cayucos Elementary District. Prior to that he was the longtime principal at St. Rose Catholic School in Paso Robles. Born in Lynwood, California and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Brescia received his undergraduate degree and teaching credentials from the University of California, San Diego.

In January 2015, Brescia is set to succeed Dr. Julian Crocker as County Superintendent of Schools. Crocker endorsed Brescia in his retirement message: “Dr. Brescia has the academic training as well as successful teaching and administrative experience in the county to continue the mission of the County Office of Education of promoting student success by supporting local school districts, providing specialized services for students and giving countywide leadership for public education. Dr. Brescia has the support of the other district superintendents in our county and the senior administrative staff of the County Office of Education.” Brescia is on the ballot without a challenger.
