Kathryn Starr Storey dies at 82

Kathryn Starr Storey, born February 26, 1934, in Rough & Ready, Penn. left peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Mar. 2, at the age of 82 in her home in Paso Robles. She was the daughter of A. Naomi Erdman Starr & Charles O. Starr from Klingerstown, Pa.

Storey’s early years were spent on a farm in Rough & Ready. She graduated from Hegins Township Class of 1952. She then moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked for the FBI for seventeen years and another thirteen years for the EPA.

She is survived by her husband Leroy (Lee) Storey to whom she was married for thirty-five and a half years. She is survived also by her sister Eleanor Reed and husband James A. Reed of Gratz, Penn., two brothers Ralph & wife Fusae Starr of Valley View and Charlie Starr of Middletown, Penn. Also she had 24 nieces and nephews and 37 great nieces and nephews. In addition she was stepmother to Rachel Wells of Missoula, Mont. and husband Arvis Wells who gave her three grand children and three great grand children.

She and Lee were married June 14, 1980, in Rough & Ready, PA. They lived in Arlington, VA until she retired. They pastored a church in Winchester, Vir. for six years and then moved to Paso Robles. They became foster parents in 1990 and cared for 98 children over a period of twenty years, most of whom were under five years of age.

A Celebration of Life is being held at Paso Robles Bible Church on Saturday, Mar. 19, 11 a.m. at 2206 Golden Hill Rd. She will then be transported to Rough & Ready, Penn. for a Celebration of Life service there.
