Kathy-Jane Johannes dies at 63 

– Kathy-Jane Johannes, 63, a Paso Robles resident originally of Auburn, Maine, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 4 at her home.Kathy-Jane Johannes

Johannes was born December 13, 1951 in Chicopee, Maine to Charles and Francis Gregor. Due to her father’s army career she spent her youth living in various places around the world. She and husband Jefferson Johannes, DVM, moved to Paso Robles in April of 1980, where they lived for nearly 20 years. During that time they owned and operated the North County Animal Hospital, as well as the North County Wildlife Center. Her affinity and skill with ill or injured wildlife was legendary, and she is remembered for her unwavering passion for animal welfare. Although they retired to Maine in September of 1999, she always considered Paso Robles her home.

Kathy-Jane is survived by her husband, Jefferson Johannes; daughter Angie Ford of San Antonio, Texas and her children Austin and Brandon; son Eric Johannes of Auburn, his wife Sherri and their children Chantal, Michelle and Charlie. She was preceded in death by her parents.

In accordance with Kathy-Jane’s wishes, there will be no service. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Tippi Hendron’s Shambala Preserve, 6867 Soledad Canyon Road, Acton, CA 93510.
