Letter: Just discovered wonderful, little Parkfield

Parkfield

To the editor,

I have lived in this area for 44 years and only today made a trip to Parkfield, South Monterey County. It was one of the most delightful trips I have made in aeons to this cattle dry ranching area with a population of 18. We had a scrumptious lunch of hamburgers at the spacious Parkfield Cafe, a worthy trip to this area on its own. The ‘ambience,’ was so uniquely western.

There were the most unique treehouses, a pirate ship, and a wonderful wood sculpture statue of a local rancher with kudos to Native Americans who lived in the Cholame Valley. It was a wonderful trip of about 40 miles from where we live in Paso Robles and worth it after waiting 44 years to finally discover this wonderfully unspoiled area, with only one vineyard encroaching.

I don’t recall reading an article on Parkfield recently. I think it would be worth an article on this lovely, pristine area.
