Library hosts summer activities 

Every heroThe Paso Robles City Library is hosting a variety of activities this summer for children, teens and adults.

June’s special reading-incentive program activities for teens, ages 10-18, include:

    • Wednesday, June 17, Gerald Joseph Magician: magic and comedy fun for all ages.
    • Thursday, June 18, Bucket Busters: Sample the Music Motive’s Bucket Buster Bucketeer class for free.
    • Thursday, June 25, Teen Movie Matinee: Vote for a favorite musical film at the library beginning Monday June 1, then come back to see the winning film.
    • Tuesday, June 30, We Got the Beat: Mix artist Gio Espinoza will demonstrate the layering of instrumental sounds to create a beat used in electronic dance music, dub step, and hip hop.

 

June’s special reading-incentive program activities for children, ages 3-12, include:

  • Wednesday, June 17, Hero Tales: Join storyteller Kirk Henning as he shares stories and tales of heroes big and small from around the world. Henning will delight children and adults alike as he spins yarns while plucking his guitar or creating zany sound effects with his mouth harp. Recommended for ages five and older.
  • Tuesday, June 23, Super Hero School School: Take the super hero challenge, create a super hero mask, and more. Space is limited.

 

For adults/all ages:

  • Friday, June 19, Book and Film Discussion – View the Cannes International Film Festival-winning film based on the memoir The Pianist, by Wladyslaw Pzilman, a story of survival in war-torn Poland during the Nazi occupation. Then stay for the discussion of both the book and the film. Film is rated R; no one under 17 admitted.
  • Saturday, June 20- Movie viewing- This classic movie rendition of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet story set in 1950’s New York is one of the most beloved musicals of all times. Film is unrated; families encouraged.
