Library unveils shiny new book drop

Two and a half-year-old Tristan Donovan was all smiles about getting the chance to use the library’s brand new book drop on Friday, September 5 during a toddler story time lesson at Paso Robles City Library. The book drop was presented to the library last week by the Paso Robles Library Foundation as part of the non-profit’s library beautification campaign.

Returning books to the Paso Robles City Library just got a whole lot prettier with the addition of a new stainless steel book drop in the parking lot of the library courtesy of the Paso Robles Library Foundation. The drop, installed on Friday, August 29, is part of the foundation’s library beautification campaign. Most recently, the foundation sponsored programs and prizes for the library’s Summer Reading Program which benefitted close to 1,500 community participants.

“Additions such as this book drop are possible thanks to donations made to our library though the Library Foundation,” said Library Manager Karen Christiansen. “I knew our book drops showed a lot of wear and tear, but I didn’t realize how much of a difference this new book drop would make until it was installed.”

Community members who would like to show their support for the library are invited to attend the foundation’s 3rd annual BookPlates! fundraiser slated for Nov. 22 from 6-9 p.m. The event features the work of talented artists who have created original two and three dimensional pieces of art using dinner-sized ceramic plates as the base. The evening will feature fantastic food, beer, wine, and entertainment from one of the area’s most popular jazz bands, Human Nation. Tickets are on sale beginning in mid-September.

Paso Robles Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds throughout the year to augment the city’s budget for library services. Since 1997, the Library Foundation has raised over $500,000 to make wonderful new additions like the book drop possible, expand collections, provide programs for adults and children, and help the community keep pace with a changing world.
