Lila Marie Brehm dies at 78

Lila Marie

Lila Marie Brehm.

–Lila Marie Brehm 78, passed away on March 9, 2016, with her family by her side in Templeton.

On June 3, 1937, Edwin and Dorothy Moser gave birth to their only child, Lila Marie, in Inglewood, California.

Lila grew up as a happy, ambitious and talented child. Growing up she spent a lot of her time visiting family throughout the country, especially Nebraska. Annual camping trips to Yosemite were common. At the age of 10, she received her first piano. By the age of 15, she was talented enough where she began teaching piano and continued teaching up until one month before her passing.

On January 28, 1956, Lila married her husband William Brehm. They had three sons Kevin, Steve and Robert. In 1969, the family decided to relocate and raise their family in Atascadero.

Her Catholic faith was always important to her. Throughout her many years of attending St. Williams Catholic Church, she and others helped teach classes in Catechism, Holy Communion, Confirmation, as well as bible study classes. Lila was always active within the community as well. She was known to teach 4-H classes, assist with Atascadero Colony Days committees and projects, become a music teacher at local elementary schools, and performed volunteer work throughout the community.

Throughout her life, Lila enjoyed cooking, entertaining friends, traveling, reading a good book, being with her family and grandchildren and of course, teaching piano. Lila was a wonderful woman and will be dearly missed.

Lila is survived by her husband William, her sons Kevin (Linda), Steve, and Robert, her grandchildren Randi, Dani (Travis), Mandi (Jesse), Travis (Shikira), Stevie, Mallory, John, and eight great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, 11 a.m. at St. Williams Church in Atascadero. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to a favorite charity.
