“As a longtime scuba diver and ocean enthusiast, I have spent many fascinating hours in the waters around our local California Channel Islands, swum with humpback whales in both the Caribbean and the South Pacific, heard the birth pangs of an underwater volcano in the Solomon Islands, and come face-to-face with many of the beautiful, bizarre, and fascinating life-forms that inhabit our world’s oceans. I coauthored the book with Paul Mila, author of four diving adventure novels. Together we portray a lighthearted look at diving that appeals not only to divers but to non-diving ocean-enthusiasts as well,” Hemenway said.

Hemenway has logged 1,500 dives over the past four decades. She recently retired from a career in network security engineering, and when she is not diving she enjoys living among the native oaks and rolling vineyards of  Atascadero. “Bubbles Up” is her second nonfiction work about the ocean, following “The Universe Next Door.”

Paul Mila and his family reside in Carle Place, New York, a small town on Long Island.
