Since the Summer 2013 release of the new book Nose, Legs, Body!, Know Wine Like The Back of Your Hand, tasting rooms and wine country merchants nationwide have embraced local author Len Napolitano’s new wine guide for beginners. In its first seven months, over 100 locations across 18 states have added the book to their gift shop shelves.

“Nose, Legs, Body! is an entertaining and informative addition to our gift shop and has quickly become one of our top selling wine educational publications,” says Catherine Bannister, the visitor center manager at The Hess Collection in Napa, California.

Nose, Legs, Body! Know Wine Like The Back of Your Hand (Wineology Press, 186 pages, $14.99 retail) has already been recognized three times for its quality of content and format. It won a Gold Award, the highest honor issued by the Non-Fiction Authors Association, a Benjamin Franklin Digital Award Silver Seal of Excellence by the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), and a QED Seal of Approval by the Digital Book Awards. It was also chosen as one of the best booze books of 2013 by 805 Living Magazine.

As IBPA judges noted in their review, “The author knows his subject and it shows. He writes with authority, but in a tone that is friendly and approachable.” The Non-Fiction Authors Association adds, “This may be the most user-friendly guide to wine you’ll find.”

Napolitano believes as readers begin to understand wine and appreciate its potential to complement so much in life, new possibilities open up for joyful experiences in socializing, dining, and everyday living. The book helps strengthen readers’ passion for wine by knowing its most pertinent terms, processes, and styles while helping them gain confidence in making wine selections at restaurants, wine shops, or online. It improves wine and food pairing experiences and teaches wine subtleties through experiential instruction inside each chapter.

Napolitano says, “I’ve earned certification by two national wine education organizations, taken classes at U.C. Davis, and made wine at home, but it’s my ten years of personal selling directly to winemakers that has given me the most practical wine knowledge.”

The author, a wine columnist for Sonoma, CA-based Wine Country This Week magazine and former “wineologist” on TV’s Fine Living Network, takes readers from wine beginner to wine savvy, fitting a bounty of useful information into 50 concise answers to common, yet critical, wine questions. He lives with his wife Kathy Kelly in Templeton, CA.
