In a workshop on Union Road a local company is creating innovative new products that turn iPhones into retail checkout stations.

Daily Systems, LLC, partners with Apple to design sleds that snap on to iPhones and iPods, turning them into mobile point-of-sale devices which can accept payments, scan barcodes and print receipts.

The Paso Robles firm develops and manufactures the devices called iAPS because they allow businesses to accept, print and scan.

“It allows any business to go to their customers,” CEO René Oliver told the San Luis Obispo Tribune. “It’s for the clerk on the showroom floor and the peach grower at a farmers market. It’s for the busy customer and the merchandiser who need both electronic record-keeping and intuitive ease of use.”

Daily Systems’ CEO René Oliver was born in raised in Laguna Beach but attended Cal Poly SLO in the 80’s. After college and marriage, he and his wife decided to raise their three children and start a business here in Paso Robles. Oliver is a “people person” who enjoys traveling nationwide and internationally to help grow his company and promote his iAPS device.

As his iAPS mobile POS device becomes more popular, Oliver can employ more people. And in this economy, every job counts.

Here in Paso Robles, the economic climate is still a challenge for many small businesses and Daily Systems LLC president and CEO René Oliver is thankful for his company’s success. His growing business has customers nationwide and across the globe. This latest partnership with Carts of Colorado shows that mobile point-of-sale devices are becoming more commonplace as businesses look for ways to serve their customers faster and more efficiently.

Founded in 1999 and located in Paso Robles, CA, Daily Systems LLC offers its customers reliable, price competitive mobility solutions to help operate their businesses more efficiently.

Here are some recent deals the company has made:

A Mobile POS Solution Increases Poolside Food and Drink Sales at the Gaylord Hotels

Gaylord Hotels, a pioneer in the hotel and convention industry with a collection of five award-winning resort and convention centers across the U.S., was looking for a cost-efficient solution that would enable it to provide more attentive and personalized service to it’s guests. The hotels offered poolside service and with acres of pool area to cover, servers spent a lot of time walking between the pools, bar, and kitchen to enter and check on orders, and process payments. This resulted in long wait times and had a negative impact on sales and customer satisfaction.

Daily Systems teamed up with SkyWire Media to provide a wireless POS solution based on the Instant Guest Response software. The solution has all the features of a stationary POS system but fits in the palm of a hand. The mobile POS device is fully integrated with Gaylord’s existing POS system, enabling real-time tracking of the orders and open checks. The servers use the iPod touch in combination with Daily Systems’ iAPS sled, which is a unique all-in-one solution with a bar code scanner, credit card reader, smart card reader, and receipt printer.

“The poolside ordering and payment solution significantly enhances the productivity of the servers, and guests spend less time waiting,” says Thomas Castleberry, COO at SkyWire Media,  “The cutting-edge mobile POS solution is also a factor in creating the impression that the Gaylord Hotels is a technologically savvy and modern company.”

In Ticketing, the World’s only official green ticketing business, introduces InHand™, a  revolutionizing, wireless box office point-of-sale solution for iPhone® and iPod touch®. InHand leverages the iAPS® sled from Daily Systems, which adds barcode scanning, credit card reading and receipt printing to the already feature-rich Apple handhelds. Producers can now mobilize their entire credit-card box office operations, producing sale-to-receipt transactions as well as processing at will call tickets wirelessly from the iPhone or iPod touch, using Wi-Fi, MiFi, 3G, and 4G networks to communicate. The all-in-one mobile POS solution will help increase ticket sales while preventing long lines at entrances.

“By teaming up with Daily Systems, we have created the ideal POS solution, which will provide event producers an immediate ROI,” says Steve Weisz, founder and CEO of In Ticketing. “The InHand solution increases on-site ticket sales and improves guest satisfaction and security by drastically reducing the wait time and preventing congestion in entrance areas.”

Mobile POS solution for iPhone enables book company to sell where the students are

As students return to campus after the winter break, Daily Systems’ iAPS payment sled for iPhone and iPod touch enables the nationwide college bookstore chain Nebraska Book Company (NBC) to sell merchandise in seasonal pop-up stores that are set up close to the dorms in the beginning of the semester. The mobile POS solution is also used to increase check-out capacity in the regular stores during peak periods. Additionally, NBC now has the ability to accept credit card payments at off-site events such as book signings and stadium sales during football games.

Daily Systems’ iAPS sled fits any generation of the iPhone and iPod touch and turns these into complete mobile POS terminals with an integrated magnetic stripe reader, smart card reader, bar code scanner and receipt printer – all built into one device. During check-out the merchandise is scanned and the iAPS device has access to live inventory and pricing information. The credit card is swiped and the customer can sign for the purchase directly on the screen. The device can also handle cash, gift cards, coupons and more. Receipts are printed directly on the spot.
