Local college hosting financial management panel discussion 

Cuesta CollegeThis Wednesday Cuesta College’s north county campus is Paso Robles will hold a panel discussion titled “Personal Finances & Investing.” The event will be held from 5–7 p.m. in Dallons Hall, room N3102, located at 2800 Buena Vista Drive in Paso Robles. Moderated by Cuesta College business education instructor Gary Rubin, the discussion will involve three local financial planning and wealth advisors.

“Each panelist will share insights into their respective educational and job-related experiences in the industry, and where the industry is hiring,” said Rubin. Other discussion topics include common financial mismanagement mistakes, identifying and tracking expenses, personal budgeting, debt management and basic investing options. Information about the panelists

Rob A. Garcia

Garcia is certified financial planner and has earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary professional designation from Fiduciary 360, receiving formal training in investment fiduciary responsibility. Garcia is the founder and president of Garcia Wealth Management Group, a SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm located in Templeton. Garcia graduated from Cuesta College in 1995 and from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1997 with a degree in business administration concentrating in financial management.

Kate Morgans

Morgans is the principal at Adelaide Wealth Advisors in Paso Robles. She became a financial advisor following a successful 25 year business career and has worked at Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. In 2011, she opened her own practice to have more control over the client experience. Morgans holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from William and Mary, and a master’s degree from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Alex McGillivary

McGillivary received a degree in financial math and statistics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2006. Having entered the financial services industry during a volatile period, McGillivary had the opportunity to wear a couple different hats within the investment, commercial real estate, and banking community. Alex currently works for Wells Fargo as a private banker and sits on the board of the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce.
