Local man who died in crash near Coalinga is identified

Update: The California Highway Patrol identified the Paso Robles man who was killed in a car accident near Coalinga last Friday night. CHP identified the driver as Antonio Trinidad, 42. He was the only occupant of the 1994 Mazda driving north on Highway 33 that drifted off the roadway. According to the report, he overcorrected into the southbound lane, where he hit with a 2007 Toyota carrying five passengers.

Original report: A Paso Robles man died after a head-on crash Friday night near Coalinga, The Fresno Bee reports from California Highway Patrol officials.

The un-identified man was driving a 1994 Mazda south on Highway 33 when he drifted off the road and then over-corrected, swerving into oncoming traffic. He hit a 2007 Toyota with five passengers from Paso Robles that was headed north, the report says.

The driver of the Toyota was Scott Martini, 33. He had minor injuries. The passengers including Roselle Martini, 32, and three children, ages 6, 7 and 13, had minor to moderate injuries, the report says.

The driver of the Mazda was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, the report says.
