Helicopter rescue training in Paso Robles

California Highway Patrol Air Operations Helicopter 70 and the North County Technical Rescue Team completed helicopter rescue training Wednesday in Paso Robles. The exercises took place off Dry Creek Road near the Paso Robles Airport.

The North County Technical Rescue Team consists of specially trained firefighters and firefighter/paramedics from the Paso Robles and Atascadero Fire Departments. Technical Rescue Team members possess expertise and skills in building collapse rescue, confined space rescue, trench rescue, swift-water rescue and high/low angle rescue. An important component of their training is working with CHP Helicopter 70 which is based at the Paso Robles Airport, said Battalion Chief Kevin Taylor with the Paso Robles Fire Department.

CHP helicopter pilots, flight officer/paramedic and North County Technical Rescue Team members completed several helicopter rescue scenarios as part of this training event.
