Local PG&E employees to donate $847,000 to local nonprofits

PG&E— PG&E employees located at Diablo Canyon Power Plant and in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties will donate approximately $847,000 to local nonprofits and schools in 2017. In total, PG&E employees across the service territory will donate more than $8 million.

“Year after year, PG&E employees at Diablo Canyon and throughout San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties continue to pledge their money to local non-profits, with the majority of these donations going to local schools and other community-support organizations,” said Ed Halpin, PG&E Senior Vice President of Generation and Chief Nuclear Officer. “Our employees are so proud to live and work here on the Central Coast and that is reflected through their generosity which in turn allows our wonderful nonprofits make substantial and positive impacts in our region.”

Through PG&E’s Campaign for the Community program, employees and retirees can designate donation recipients and contribute amounts of their choosing through payroll deductions or one-time donations. PG&E then provides matching funding.

Since 2000, PG&E employees and retirees have raised nearly $80 million through the program, benefiting local schools and non-profit organizations in communities where PG&E employees live and work in Northern and Central California. These contributions are in addition to the millions of dollars that PG&E donates annually throughout its service area and on top of the countless number of hours employees spend doing volunteer work.

Contributions will be distributed throughout 2017 to thousands of schools and nonprofit organizations.
